"Братья русской фантастики". Сегодня исполняется 100 лет со дня рождения Аркадия Стругацкого

Его нередко называют "старшим братом русской фантастики". Вместе со своим братом Борисом он создал творческий тандем, который в представлении не нуждается. На их книгах выросло не одно поколение читателей, да и сегодня их точно так же читают и любят. И вряд ли можно найти человека, который не читал повесть "Понедельник начинается в субботу"...

Жизнь братьев Стругацких неразрывно связана с нашим городом. Аркадий родился в Батуми, но детство и юность провел в Ленинграде, где в 1933 году появился на свет его брат Борис. Жили они на Выборгской стороне - в самом начале проспекта Карла Маркса, нынешнего Большого Сампсониевского, в доме № 4, в квартире № 16. Сейчас этого здания нет: на его месте современное высотное строение.
Влияние на литературную судьбу своих сыновей, безусловно, оказал их отец - искусствовед и библиограф Натан Стругацкий. В 1930‑х годах он был сначала секретарем, а потом научным сотрудником Русского музея, затем трудился в Публичной библиотеке имени М. Е. Салтыкова-Щедрина - главным библиотекарем и заведующим отделом эстампов. Кстати, об этом можно подробнее узнать на выставке "Когда мне плохо, я работаю..." (12+), развернутой в Новом здании Российской национальной библиотеки на Московском проспекте.

В семье Стругацких была добрая традиция: по вечерам отец читал детям сказки и остросюжетные романы. Наверное, тогда у братьев и зародилась писательская жилка. Аркадий сделал свои первые литературные опыты еще до Великой Отечественной войны. Увы, его первая повесть - "Находка майора Королева" - была утрачена во время блокады, как и другие ранние рукописи автора…

В июле-августе 1941 года Аркадий вместе с отцом участвовал в строительстве оборонительных сооружений под Ленинградом. В первую блокадную зиму семью очень выручила привычка мамы, Александры Ивановны, запасать дрова не осенью, а весной. Но голод семья испытала в полной мере. Александра Ивановна вспоминала впоследствии, что "Аркадий, как одержимый, читал поваренную книгу, составлял меню, скрежетал зубами... Отец запрещал ему это, потом однажды больно ударил и вырвал из рук его книгу... Отец боялся, что сын может сойти с ума...".

В начале 1942 года появилась возможность выехать в эвакуацию в Мелекесс - с последней партией эвакуируемых сотрудников Публичной библиотеки. Борис и мама тогда болели, могли не перенести тяжелой дороги, и на семейном совете было решено разделиться и спасти хотя бы одного из детей.

Натан Стругацкий и Аркадий покинули Ленинград 29 января 1942 года. Долгое время от них не было никаких известий, пока 17 мая не пришла телеграмма: "Стругацкий Мелекесс не прибыл". Подробности стали известны позже. Как оказалось, на Дороге жизни грузовик, в котором ехали отец и Аркадий, провалился в воронку от бомбы. Люди успели выпрыгнуть, но оказались по пояс в ледяной воде. Когда машину вытащили, пассажиры загрузились в кузов в "хрустящих от льда одеждах", как позже вспоминал сам Аркадий Стругацкий. Отец не пережил дороги, умер в Вологде.

О мучительном пути из Вологды в Оренбург Аркадий Стругацкий практически никогда не рассказывал, поясняя: слишком тяжело было вспоминать. Говорят, что и усы он позже отпустил вовсе не для красоты, а чтобы прикрыть отсутствие передних зубов, потерянных в то голодное время...

В селе Ташла Аркадия, как грамотного (все‑таки за плечами было десять классов образования!), распределили на пункт приема молока. В 1943‑м он был призван в армию, чуть позже стал вольным слушателем японского отделения восточного факультета Военного института иностранных языков. Будучи военным переводчиком, служил на Дальнем Востоке. В 1946‑м его, слушателя третьего курса, даже откомандировали на несколько месяцев работать с японскими военнопленными для подготовки Токийского и Хабаровского процессов над японскими военными преступниками.

После окончания службы в середине 1950‑х годов Аркадий Стругацкий обосновался в Москве. Его брат к тому времени окончил Ленинградский университет, став астрономом. Оба Стругацких хотели создавать литературные произведения и стали делать это вместе, несмотря на то, что жили довольно далеко друг от друга. Ходил даже анекдот о том, что свои тексты они писали, встречаясь на полпути между городами - в Бологом. Однако семинар писателей-фантастов, основанный Борисом Натановичем в начале 1970‑х годов, действовал именно в нашем городе, причем на протяжении нескольких десятков лет.

Жанр, в котором они работали, братья Стругацкие называли "реалистичной фантастикой", в ней главное место уделялось человеку и его нравственным поискам. Они призывали людей искать лучшее в человеческой природе, верить в способность изменить мир. Братья были уверены: никакой технический прогресс не принесет счастья человечеству, если его основой не станет "Человек Воспитанный", который сможет избавиться от "внутренней обезьяны".

Произведения Стругацких органично вошли в культурную ткань нашего города. Вот лишь один примечательный факт: актриса Алиса Фрейндлих сыграла в культовом фильме Андрея Тарковского "Сталкер" 1979 года, снятом по мотивам повести Стругацких "Пикник на обочине". Она исполнила роль жены Сталкера. Финальный монолог актрисы вошел в историю кинематографа, это была одна из самых драматичных и пронзительных ролей Алисы Бруновны...

Обо всем этом, безусловно, пойдет речь сегодня в Доме книги на Невском проспекте, где состоятся мероприятия, приуроченные к 100‑летию со дня рождения Аркадия Стругацкого. Ровно в полдень начнется торжественное гашение почтовой марки с изображением писателя, специально к этой дате выпущенной "Почтой России". Сразу после церемонии ее участники смогут бесплатно отправить лимитированную открытку, выпущенную к 100‑летию писателя. В 17.30 в Доме книги стартует викторина "Старший брат советской фантастики. Аркадий Стругацкий", а спустя полчаса - лекция "Братья Стругацкие. Аркадий и Борис".

Много ли сегодня в нашем городе стругацких мемориальных адресов? Не так чтобы очень, могло бы быть и больше. На доме № 4 по улице Победы установлена мемориальная доска, свидетельствующая о том, что в этом здании с 1964‑го по 2012 год жил и творил Борис Стругацкий. Аркадий, безусловно, бывал в гостях у брата.

Еще несколько лет назад Общественная палата Петербурга поддержала идею установить памятник братьям Борису и Аркадию Стругацким на пересечении Московского проспекта и улицы Фрунзе. На той площади, которая уже больше десятка лет носит имя писателей.

Стругацких помнят в 107‑й гимназии на Выборгской улице: в этом учебном заведении Аркадий учился до войны, а Борис - после нее. Мать писателей, Александра Ивановна, работала в этой школе учителем русского языка и литературы. Даже когда она уже была на пенсии, к ней отправляли особо трудных учеников, которых она вытягивала на четверку.

Как рассказали в гимназии, в ней, конечно же, гордятся причастностью к именам знаменитых писателей. Про Аркадия Натановича здесь вспомнят в День знаний, 1 сентября (намечена целая театральная постановка), а затем весь год будет "погружением в миры" братьев Стругацких.

This brilliant crossover, all the more poignant in hindsight, nails both Bourdain’s voice and the Narnian sense of place, painstakingly hitting all the beats: Food Porn; Food Gorn (with the acknowledgement that the difference between the two is in the palate of the beholder); departure from what Diana Wynne-Jones would term the Guided Tour into Parts Unknown, with the aid of knowledgeable locals; hospitality in austere circumstances; martial arts (with thought given to the size logistics!); scary local politics; above all, food as a vehicle of cross-cultural understanding.

“No Reservations: Narnia” has the additional distinction of being RPF that not only reached but impressed the subject:

臭豆腐 (chò dò fǔ): stinky tofu!! I think it smells delicious; don't be like SL eat it normally without that crazy amount of sauce nkfsjdfds
肉圓麵線 (bà wán miàn xiàn): meatball & rice noodles. Two separate things but they're typically sold together. Meatball is always pronounced in Hokkien and sometimes rice noodle is too (mǐ suǎ)
豆花 (dòu huā): tofu pudding. It's not too sweet and it's sooooo refreshing to have on a hot taiwan evening with ice!
雞蛋糕 (jī dàn gāo): egg cake! They're seriously very good but a hit-or-miss from street vendors lmfao.

Summary
Shen Wei heals his shoulder while the fish in his aquarium look on. Zhu Jiu plays chess and schemes to get the Sundial. Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei save Li Qian from falling off the building, then she faints. Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan take her to the hospital and discuss, among other things, Shen Wei's marital status. They make a lunch date. Lin Jing, Wang Zheng and Zhu Hong watch footage of the Envoy's appearance, until Chu Shuzhi makes them delete it. Guo Changcheng and cat!Da Qing stake out the hospital to protect Li Qian. Shen Wei shows up with food. Watching from the SID, Zhu Hong identifies Li Qian's necklace as the Longevity Dial, and Zhao Yunlan concludes Li Qian killed her grandmother. Changcheng tackles the hospital attacker, is knocked out, and then Shen Wei plain-clothes Envoys the attacker out of the ward just as Zhao Yunlan arrives. The hospital attacker and Chu Shuzhi fight in the street, and the attacker escapes.

I think this is the first time I've noticed that when Zhao Yunlan catches Xiao-Guo at the hospital, he repeats his "I've got your back" from earlier. Zhao Yunlan seems quite shaken, to me, realising he sent Xiao-Guo into genuine danger.

Do you have a favourite scene or quote from the first half of episode 2? What is Shen Wei thinking when he sees Zhao Yunlan's graze? On a scale of 1 to 10, how sorry do you feel for Li Qian?
